GEORGE TOWN: Eco World Development Group Bhd will build 1,372 properties with a gross development value (GDV) of RM800mil in Batu Kawan in the second half of this year.
Eco World (Northern Region) general manager Datuk Chan Soo How told StarBiz the launch comes under the Eco Horizon development, of which 1,302 high-rise units are in the Ceria D’Eco Horizon development and the remaining 70 semi-detached houses in the third phase of the Beldon Collection.
The high-rises are each priced below RM499,000, while the semi-detached units are about RM1.5mil.
“Residential properties are EcoWorld’s core business segment and as of May 31, 2023, we have registered RM1.22bil in sales across Penang, the Klang Valley and Iskandar Malaysia.
Penang’s contribution to the company’s RM1.22bil in revenue is around 15%,” Chan said.
He added the group continued to see sustained interest in products designed for those looking to upgrade their lifestyles.
“We are excited about the upcoming launch of Ceria D’ Eco Horizon. Not only is this the first high-rise offering in the Eco Horizon township, but it is also the first of EcoWorld’s popular and highly successful ‘Duduk’ series.
“The property size is suitable for most families, making it appealing to first-home buyers or investors looking for rental yield,” he said.
The ‘Duduk’ registrants exceeded the number of units for the first launch of Block A during the first three months of the campaign to promote the project.
The group introduced the Duduk apartments in the Klang Valley during the pandemic to target the younger homeowners in the Klang Valley.
Another best-selling product in the Eco Horizon township is its semi-detached homes.
“The reason behind its popularity is that many customers are still looking for an upgrade for their living space, which is well supported with convenient amenities, lush greenery and a safe built environment.
“Because of the overwhelming response of the first two phases of Beldon Collection, we have recently launched the third phase of semi-detached houses,” he said.
Eco World Development is undertaking 20 projects across the country. It has a total landbank of 8,318.9 acres, of which 223.6 acres is in Penang, as of May 2023.
According to the National Property Information Centre 2022 annual report, the residential sub-sector recorded 17,892 transactions worth RM7.96bil, the highest volume and value of transactions for the past five years, indicating an increase of 31.1% and 33.4%, respectively, compared with 2021.
