Penjana Kapital appoints Tunku Alizakri as chairman


PETALING JAYA: Penjana Kapital Sdn Bhd has appointed former Employees Provident Fund (EPF) chief executive officer Tunku Alizakri Raja Muhammad Alias as its chairman with effect from Sept 8, 2023.

In a statement, the Finance Ministry-owned venture capital or VC firm said Tunku Alizakri has over 20 years of senior management and board level experience in areas such as fund management, financial sector and central banking, social security, healthcare, media and telecommunications, property development, plantations as well as oil and gas.

He is now a board member of Prudential BSN Takaful, Bumi Armada Bhd, IHH Healthcare Bhd and Sime Darby Plantation Sdn Bhd. He served as the chief executive officer of EPF from 2018 until 2021.

Pejana Kapital has also appointed Chris Chia Woon Liat as an independent non-executive director.

Chia is a managing partner at Kendall Court Capital Partners, a regional private equity firm based in Singapore.

Penjana Kapital administers and facilitates the deployment of the Dana Penjana Nasional, a matching fund-of-funds programme.
