BCorp boosts its stake in BFood to 57.43%


KUALA LUMPUR: Berjaya Corp Bhd (BCorp) has acquired about 37.25 million ordinary shares representing about 2.12% equity interest in Berjaya Food Bhd (BFood) for RM26.59mil cash, or at an average purchase price of about 71.4 sen per BFood Share.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, BCorp said acquisitions of shares were done from Sept 26 to Oct 27 via a direct business transaction and in the open market.

“Following the acquisitions, BCorp and its subsidiaries now hold a total of about 1,007.52 million BFood Shares representing about 57.43% equity interest in BFood,” it said.

BCorp said the cash considerations of the acquisitions were arrived at after taking into consideration the prevailing market prices of the BFood shares at the time of acquisitions.

It added that the acquisitions were funded from borrowings.
