Maxis posts RM287mil net profit in 3Q, declares 4.0 sen dividend

In the third quarter ended Sept 30, Maxis posted a net profit of RM287mil, or earnings per share of 3.70 sen compared with RM308mil, or 3.90 sen a year earlier.

Revenue for the quarter rose to RM2.44bil against RM2.4bil last year.

Maxis declared a third interim dividend of four sen for FY2023, with an entitlement date of Nov 28 and a payment date of Dec 21.

For the first nine months to Sept 30, it posted a net profit of RM937mil, up 1.95% from RM919mil last year while revenue grew 2.8% to RM7.4bil from RM7.2bil a year prior.

Chief executive officer Goh Seow Eng said it had delivered stable growth during the quarter in an intensely competitive operating environment.

"We are seeing good take-up of our recently launched 5G and new fibre plans. Our top priority is to focus on operational excellence and we remain firmly committed to meeting all our customers' connectivity needs," he said in a statement.

Maxis' consumer business grew steadily, with postpaid revenue increasing by 6.3% year-on-year (YoY).

Its enterprise business maintained its upward momentum as revenue grew by 6.4% YoY, supported by fixed and mobile solutions revenue.

During the quarter, Maxis allocated RM215mil in capital expenditure (capex) during the quarter to network quality and capacity expansion.

“In view of Maxis’ recent 5G rollout and fibre-related developments, the company plans to diligently manage capex while growing its customer base and service offerings,” it said.
