Pecca wants to form new partnerships with EV-related companies

PETALING JAYA: Automotive upholstery maker, Pecca Group Bhd, is open to forming partnerships with electric vehicle (EV)-related business entities.

Chief executive officer Foo Ken Nee said the group is aggressively looking to diversify into the EV-related industry.

"We are keen to get into businesses related to EV cars, EV chargers and batteries. We are currently in discussions with a potential business partner,” he said at a press conference in conjunction with Pecca’s annual general meeting here today.

Foo said the group has established two new legal entities to support the importation of EV cars and the distribution and dealership of EV cars.

"We are also talking to a couple of EV manufacturers in terms of representing and getting the distributorship into Malaysia. Discussions are ongoing and there is not much we can disclose at this point,” he said.

Last year, Pecca signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Malaysia Automotive Robotics and IoT Institute (MARii) to collaborate in EV parts, components technology and market expansion of products.

The MoU will see MARii providing new opportunities for Pecca to expand its capabilities and offer more competitive products to global brands.

This includes enhancing the operational efficiency of its business process by integrating Industry 4.0 systems, which will better prepare and fully equip the company to meet the requirements of new customers.

Foo also stated that Pecca is finalising its latest collaboration with MARii to start new engagements with luxury vehicle brands.

"We will announce this (collaboration with MARii) soon, (as is) we have built our second plant in Selangor to enable Pecca to significantly increase its capacity to cater for future demand, especially for luxury brands,” he said.

Besides collaborating with MARii, the group is also actively working to connect with the respective partners in luxury vehicle brands to identify and showcase more on its sample and quality.

"We are active in taking aggressive steps to introduce ourselves by showing our capabilities and profile with local and international brands.

"MARii is a key platform to getting us closer to the people in the regional and global perspective and that is something that we are working closely to achieve,” he said. - Bernama
