Maybank appoints Yee Yang Chien as director

KUALA LUMPUR: Malayan Banking Bhd (Maybank) has appointed Datuk Yee Yang Chien as non independent and non-executive director.

Yee, 55, holds a double-degree in Accounting/ Financial Management and Economics from University of Sheffield, United Kingdom.

He started his career as an auditor, undertaking both external and internal audit assignments/roles. He then assumed roles related to equity research and investment banking in various local and international financial institutions.

Yee first joined MISC Bhd in 2001 as senior manager, research and evaluation of the corporate planning and development unit. He subsequently joined AET Tankers Holding, a subsidiary of MISC, in 2005 as group vice president, corporate planning.

He re-joined MISC in 2008 retired in September 2022.

Yee is a nominee of Permodalan Nasional Bhd, a substantial shareholder of Maybank.

Maybank Group has in place internal governance processes and policies to govern related/connected party transactions and directors' conflict of interest.
