PETALING JAYA: Gamuda Bhd saw a new international milestone as it held the Kaohsiung Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) Metropolitan Yellow Line’s Package YC01 civil construction groundbreaking ceremony yesterday.

Package YC01 of the Yellow Line was awarded to Gamuda in November 2023 by Taiwan Kaohsiung City government’s Mass Rapid Transit Bureau, an MRT division established under the federal Taiwan Kaohsiung City government.

It will be executed by an 88:12 unincorporated joint venture between Gamuda and Asia World Engineering & Construction Co. Gamuda’s share of the contract value is RM3.03bil.

The project is Gamuda’s sixth infrastructure venture in Taiwan, reinforcing the group’s position as a key partner in the region’s rail and infrastructure development.

Once completed, the Kaohsiung MRT Yellow Line will benefit 1.16 million people.
