UOB Malaysia's new HQ awarded GreenRE's platinum cert

KUALA LUMPUR: UOB Malaysia's new corporate headquarters, UOB Plaza 1 Kuala Lumpur, has been awarded the platinum certification from GreenRE Real Estate.

In a statement, the bank said platinum is the highest level in GreenRE’s green building rating system, making UOB Plaza 1 the first bank headquarters in Malaysia to be recognised for its sustainable design, construction, and wellness features.

It said the key considerations contributing to the platinum certification include its sustainable architecture, efficient energy, water and waste management and focus on people's well=being.

Completed in September 2022, the lantern-shaped office building is located at the heart of Kuala Lumpur and is occupied by more than 3,000 of the bank’s employees. It also houses the bank’s main branch and wealth centre.

"The building stands as a testament to our unwavering dedication to sustainability and in supporting the country’s net zero ambition.

"For us, UOB Plaza 1 Kuala Lumpur not only reflects the significant transformation taking place in UOB Malaysia, it is also a physical manifestation of our confidence in Malaysia’s long term potential as well as our continued commitment to the country, our people and our customers," said UOB Malaysia CEO Ng Wei Wei.
