Globetronics expects challenging semiconductor industry

KUALA LUMPUR: Globetronics Technology Bhd expects the semiconductor industry to continue experiencing challenging macroeconomic and geopolitical issues, resulting in unpredictable market conditions.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, the group said it had taken measures and shall continue to strive to minimise any potential exposures or disruptions arising from these challenges.

For the fourth quarter ended Dec 31, 2023, Globetronics’ net profit dropped to RM6.51mil from RM12.05mil in the previous corresponding period, while revenue dipped to RM32.55mil from RM43.05mil a year earlier.

Globetronics said the lower revenue and net profit were mainly due to lower volume loadings from certain of the group's customers.

Basic earnings per share stood at 0.97 sen compared with 1.80 sen previously.

For the financial year ended Dec 31, 2023, net profit dipped to RM26.42mil from RM45.46mil previously, while revenue was lower at RM131.82mil against RM180.05mil a year earlier.
