Yinson Production's FPSO vessel Atlanta sets sail to Brazil

SINGAPORE: Yinson Production’s floating, production, storage, and offloading (FPSO) vessel Atlanta recently set sail from a shipyard in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, to Brazil, marking the successful completion of the project execution phase.

The FPSO operator said the vessel, which has a production capacity of 50,000 barrels of oil per day and a maximum storage capacity of 1.2 million barrels, is expected to arrive in the Atlanta field in the Santos Basin offshore Brazil during the second quarter of 2024.

Yinson Production, the offshore production business unit of Yinson Holdings Bhd, was awarded the redevelopment project by Enauta Energia S.A. (Enauta) on Feb 21, 2022, as an engineering, procurement, construction, and installation (EPCI) project.

"In July 2023, Yinson Production exercised its option to purchase FPSO Atlanta, which includes a 15-year firm plus a five-year option contract for the supply, operations and maintenance with a total contract value of up to US$1.981 billion (US$1=RM4.71),” it said in a joint statement.

It said the FPSO vessel features an efficient carbon management process plant, which utilises fuel gas for cargo tank inertisation that will significantly reduce flare gas emissions through a closed flare system.

"The plant is part of Enauta and Yinson Production’s continuous efforts to reduce carbon emissions and be the frontrunner in decarbonising the FPSO industry towards the goal of net zero,” it said.

FPSO Atlanta project manager Scott Bendiksen said the project was carried out with over nine million man-hours without lost time incident, and safety has remained the company’s top priority throughout every phase of the project.

"We look forward to seeing FPSO Atlanta contribute to Enauta’s operations in the Santos Basin, further solidifying our position as a trusted partner in the offshore energy sector,” he said.

Enauta executive deployment manager Vinicíus Passos said the team that worked on adapting the vessel demonstrated the highest level of safety standards, with more than two years without any incident. - Bernama
