Keyfield invests RM172mil in two vessels


PETALING JAYA: Keyfield International Bhd’s wholly-owned subsidiary, Keyfield Offshore Sdn Bhd (KOSB), has entered into two agreements with two separate entities for one secondhand and one newbuild Dynamic Positioning 2 accommodation workboat (DP2 AWB), totalling RM172mil.

In a statement, Keyfield said KOSB had signed a memorandum of agreement to acquire a secondhand AWB, MV Belait Barakah, from Belait Barakah Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of Brunei-based Belait Shipping Co (B) Sdn Bhd, for RM28.3mil.

KOSB had also entered into a shipbuilding contract with China’s Jingjiang Nanyang Shipbuilding Co Ltd and Nantong Shunyang Trade and Development Co Ltd for the construction of a newbuild DP2 AWB for RM143.7mil.

“Keyfield expects to take delivery of the newbuild DP2 AWB tentatively in the first quarter of 2026 and commence chartering operations in the same year.”
