KPJ Healthcare aims big in health tourism

KPJ Healthcare president and managing director Chin Keat Chyuan.

KUALA LUMPUR: KPJ Healthcare Bhd expects to achieve double-digit growth in health tourism this year.

President and managing director Chin Keat Chyuan said the company’s health tourism business grew by 41% last year.

He said the value represents about 8.3%, or RM190mil, of the total Malaysian health market.

“The market share is something that we are looking at – how we are going to grow and outgrow the market – and hopefully, that allows us to achieve double-digit market share.

“In the first five months of this year, we expanded rapidly and we are on track to continue with this trend for the coming quarters,” he said after KPJ Healthcare AGM yesterday.

For the financial year ended Dec 31, 2023 (FY23), KPJ Healthcare reported revenue of RM3.42bil, a 19% increase from the previous year.

Pre-tax profit rose by 37% to RM378mil from RM275.1mil in FY22.
