KUALA LUMPUR: Uzma Bhd has inked agreements with key partners - the Malaysia Space Agency (MYSA), SIRIM, MIMOS Bhd, Lebtech Energy Sdn Bhd, and Global Farm Biotech Sdn Bhd - to further advance Malaysia’s geospatial industry.
The signings came ahead of the launch of UzmaSAT-1, a state-of-the-art Earth Observation (EO) satellite developed through a collaboration between Uzma and Satellogic, a company specialising in Earth-observation satellites.
In a statement, Uzma said it signed memorandums of understanding (MoU) and exchange of a letter of interest with the parties to drive various initiatives, including enhancing AI and remote sensing for soil health monitoring with MYSA’s Researcher Industry Scientific Exchange (RISE) programme.
It will also explore advanced satellite imaging techniques for border security and precision agriculture with MIMOS, and support GeoAI's efforts to achieve ESG measures through Carbon Accounting with SIRIM.
Additionally, it will collaborate with Lebtech Energy and Global Farm Biotech to market satellite-based solutions for urban data analysis and paddy cultivation.
Uzma, which has officially unveiled UzmaSAT-1, aims to evolve the landscape of satellite imagery capabilities and geospatial services in Southeast Asia by leveraging access to high-temporal and high-resolution satellite imagery from the largest commercial EO constellation in orbit.
"The UzmaSAT-1 Programme represents a transformative leap towards more efficient, cost-effective, and sustainable practices across diverse industries," it added.
Uzma chairman Datuk Abdullah Karim said the UzmaSAT-1 satellite initiative underscores its relentless pursuit of cutting-edge solutions, reflecting its ambition to extend its expertise beyond traditional boundaries.
