ASM 2 Wawasan declares RM1.13bil income distribution

KUALA LUMPUR: Amanah Saham Nasional Bhd (ASNB) has announced a total income distribution payout of RM1.13bil for its Amanah Saham Malaysia 2 - Wawasan (ASM 2 Wawasan) fixed price fund for the financial year ending Aug 31, 2024.

In a statement, the unit trust arm of Permodalan Nasional Bhd, said the distribution will benefit 939,200 unitholders.

The payout translates to total returns of 4.75%, which exceeds its benchmark Maybank 12-month fixed deposit of 2.71% by 204 basis points.

As of Aug 26, 2024, the fund earned a total gross income of RM1.54bil and recorded a net realised income of RM1.27bil.

The income for ASM 2 Wawasan is derived from capital gains, dividends, and other revenue sources from both domestic and international investments.

Its income from equities remained a major contributor as international and domestic investment contributed 48% and 40.6% respectively to the fund’s gross income.

The fund said it has benefitted from the diversification of the portfolios into other asset classes, particularly real estate and private equity, which represent 8.6% of the total net asset value (NAV).

The computation of income distribution for ASM 2 Wawasan is based on the average minimum monthly balance held throughout the financial year of the fund.

The distribution declared by ASM 2 Wawasan will be automatically re-invested as additional units into unitholders’ accounts on Sept 1, 2024.

ASNB said transactions for ASM 2 Wawasan at ASNB branches and agents including all online channels and internet banking have been temporarily suspended from Aug 30 to 31, 2024.

Unitholders may resume transactions at myASNB portal (www.myasnb.com.my), via myASNB mobile application on Sept 1, 2024, and at any ASNB branches or its agents nationwide starting Sept 2, 2024.
