MCBA inks new collective agreement with Association of Bank Officers Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malayan Commercial Banks Association (MCBA) and the Association of Bank Officers Malaysia (ABOM) have signed a new collective agreement (CA) which will, among others, see ABOM members enjoy a 9% salary adjustment as well as the introduction of a new annual festival aid and monthly digital allowance, in addition to various other benefits.

The 15th CA, for the period 2024-2026, will benefit some 3,500 bank officers serving in 10 commercial banks across Peninsular Malaysia.

The agreement was signed in Kuala Lumpur where MCBA was represented by its president Datuk Dr Nora Abd Manaf, and executive director, Looi Heong Meng, and ABOM by its president, Suhairun bin Mohd Nawir, and its general secretary, Ng Choo Seong.

MCBA president Datuk Dr Nora Abd Manaf said the signing was a significant occasion and the beginning of a new chapter in the shared journey of the two parties.

Commending the mutually respectful and open attitude evident amongst the two parties throughout the negotiations, she said: “ABOM has been a key and responsible stakeholder in our industrial relations, and no more is this aptly reflected by the fact that the negotiations were concluded after just eight months of amiable yet progressive discussions.”
