KUALA LUMPUR: YTL Power International Bhd’s subsidiary, YTL Communications Sdn Bhd (YTL Comms), is providing full cooperation to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) concerning the 1Bestarinet project.
In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, the group clarified that the 1Bestarinet project was awarded to YTL Comms in 2011 by the Education Ministry through an open tender process involving 19 companies.
“YTL Comms was selected for having the most technically compliant and cost-effective bid. The project was certified by the Ministry of Education as being successfully completed at the end of the contract period on June 30, 2019.
“YTL Comms is providing full cooperation to MACC on this matter and trusts that the matter will be satisfactorily resolved,” it said.
Bernama reported that the MACC started an investigation into payment claims for the Education Ministry’s 1BestariNet service tender worth RM4bil which was awarded to YTL Comms.
According to a source, the MACC conducted raids at government offices and YTL Comms' office, today.
The sources informed Bernama that several documents were seized, and the MACC is currently reviewing them to identify potential witnesses for the investigation.
Meanwhile, MACC Investigation Division senior director, Datuk Seri Hishamuddin Hashim when contacted by an online portal confirmed that the case was investigated under section 18 of the MACC Act 2009.
