JAKARTA: At least 1,300 participants representing 450 global communities from 40 countries attended the Bali Annual Telkom International Conference (Batic) 2024 in Bali last month,

The conference was the largest international telecommunications conference in South-East Asia.

Batic is the flagship event of PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia International (Telin), a subsidiary of state-owned PT Telkom Indonesia (Telkom), reflecting the latter’s commitment to highlight the industry’s role in driving sustainable innovation.

This aligns with Telkom’s focus on the business-to-business (B2B) segment through Telin, its wholesale and international business arm that has sales representatives at 10 offices in five countries.

Batic 2024 was themed “Cultivating The Sustainable Digital Ecosystem”, in line with the latest trend in the global digital telecommunications industry, said Telin chief executive officer Budi Satria Dharma Purba.

He noted the massive growth of the digital telecommunications industry with the adoption artificial intelligence (AI) will consume an enormous amount of energy.

“We have a responsibility to ensure the availability of sustainable energy for the digital ecosystem.

“Sustainability energy is an important agenda, as we are committed to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals,” Budi told The Jakarta Post.

Telkom Group continues to build high-capacity data centres in the regions to meet AI needs.

A keynote speech by Telkom president director Ririek Adriansyah on “Enabling Indonesia’s Digital Transformation” highlighted the company’s key initiatives to drive Indonesia’s digital transformation.

“Telecommunications companies can leverage technological advancements to provide innovative B2B solutions.

“Technology will drive data consumption growth, creating opportunities for telecommunications companies to offer robust, high-capacity digital infrastructure,” he said. — The Jakarta Post/ANN
