Hong Leong Bank adds Weixin Pay to DuitNow QR for easier payments

HLB BizBuddy DuitNow QR merchants such as café operator The Hub at DC Mall are ready to accept Weixin Pay, providing seamless convenience for users of the popular mobile payment and digital wallet

KUALA LUMPUR: Hong Leong Bank Bhd (HLB) has enabled its HLB DuitNow QR merchants to accept Weixin Pay (WeChat Pay) via its HLB DuitNow QR, providing an added payment option for Weixin Pay users and especially for tourists from China during their visit to Malaysia.

The bank said the partnership will also enable all Weixin Pay merchants in its global network to accept payments from Malaysian mobile banking apps and e-wallets supported by PayNet.

To accept Weixin Pay, it said HLB merchants simply need to display their HLB DuitNow QR code at their point-of-sale.

"With at least 1.47 million tourists from China arriving in Malaysia in 2023, which is expected to increase to five million this year, enabling Weixin Pay acceptance via HLB DuitNow QR comes at an opportune time to support the recovery of the tourism sector,” it said in a statement today. - Bernama
