Bina Darulaman addresses change of auditors

KUALA LUMPUR: Bina Darulaman Bhd has clarified that Messrs KPMG PLT's resignation as its external auditor was part of a routine governance practice.

In a statement, the group said the auditor's resignation, effective on Sept 9, 2024, followed the extension of its tenure, which spanned 10 years from 2014 to 2023.

"It is important to emphasise that KPMG has not audited this year's financial reports yet, so this transition will not affect Bina Darulaman's financial integrity," it said.

Bina Darulaman said it has shortlisted BDO PLT as the new auditor, pending the completion of official documentation to finalise the appointment and align with strategic objectives.

The company said the transition would not impact its operations.

"The Board is confident that the change in external auditors will ensure a smooth continuation of the financial reporting process and to enable the company to benefit from fresh perspectives and views of another audit firm.

"Bina Darulaman and its board of directors remain fully committed to upholding the highest standards of corporate governance, following the guidelines set out in the Malaysian Code of Corporate Governance 2021 (MCCG 2021)," it said.
