Shell Malaysia charters two shipping vessels from Malaysian firm

KUALA LUMPUR: Shell Malaysia Trading Sdn Bhd and Shell Timur Sdn Bhd have entered into a long-term agreement with Orkim Sdn Bhd to charter two shipping vessels for the distribution of petroleum products.

According to a statement issued by Shell Malaysia, the two vessels will play a crucial role in transporting oil products for Shell Malaysia’s downstream fuels business across Peninsular Malaysia and East Malaysia.

It said the new builds are equipped with enhanced features for safety, efficiency and environmental protection to address the growing requirements and compliance needs.

“This collaboration marks a major milestone in our commitment to support Malaysian stakeholders, through a long-term strategy aimed at enhancing and building capabilities within the local energy sector,” said Shairan Huzani Husain, managing director, Shell Malaysia Trading Sdn Bhd and Shell Timur Sdn Bhd.

“We are excited to work with Orkim Sdn Bhd and believe this collaboration will encourage greater involvement from local industry players and foster new initiatives to further develop local capabilities.”

Shell Malaysia and Orkim Sdn Bhd have a longstanding relationship in the carriage and distribution of petroleum products across Malaysia and Singapore.
