PETALING JAYA: Sunway Melawati Sdn Bhd, a full subsidiary of Sunway Bhd, has agreed to acquire a 17.6-acre prime freehold land from Viva Impian Sdn Bhd in the Taman Taynton neighbourhood of Kuala Lumpur for RM320mil.

In a statement yesterday, Sunway said the proposed land acquisition is strategically situated adjacent to its Sunway Alishan residential development, and that the parcel of land is earmarked for a mixed-use development with an estimated gross development value of RM3.2bil.

“The proposed development will integrate opulent serviced apartments offering a unique urban living experience with a vibrant wellness-focused retail podium featuring health and wellness clinics,” the group said.

Moreover, in line with its ongoing commitment to sustainability, the project will be designed with the Sunway Design and Development Architecture as its governing design philosophy to deliver sustainability, innovation, health and wellness, as well as lifestyle and new experiences for the community.

Sarena Cheah, managing director of Sunway Property, the group’s property arm, said the proposed acquisition represents an opportunity for the group to meet the growing demand for high-quality, integrated developments in Kuala Lumpur.

“Our vision is to create a holistic community space centred on wellness that serves the evolving needs of modern urban lifestyles.

“We are confident that this development will catalyse and elevate the growth in the surrounding area,” she said.

Strategically located with direct access from the Middle Ring Road 2, Sunway pointed out that the development is connected to key highways including the Shah Alam Expressway, Grand Saga Highway, East-West Link, and Maju Expressway.

In addition, it said the site is located 500 m away from the Ekocheras bus stop and taxi stand, 800 m away from the Taman Mutiara Mass Rapid Transit station, five km away from the Cheras Light Rail Transit station and 6.3 km from the Terminal Bersepadu Selatan.

“Sunway Property will work closely with local stakeholders and planning authorities to ensure the development meets the highest standards of quality, safety, and environmental responsibility.

“This new endeavor reaffirms Sunway Property’s position as a leader in innovative, sustainable urban developments, continuing its legacy of building thriving communities that stand the test of time,” it said.

According to the group, Sunway Property builds, owns, and operates integrated townships and developments of more than 5,000 acres across Malaysia that provide safe and well connected ecosystems for communities.

To date, the company has a portfolio of successful and internationally acclaimed properties in Malaysia and abroad, including China, Cambodia, Vietnam, and Singapore.
