Short selling in Pertama Digital suspended for second day in a row


KUALA LUMPUR: Bursa Malaysia Securities Bhd has suspended short selling in Pertama Digital Bhd for a second consecutive day after its share price dropped a further 15% from its reference price today.

The digital services provider hit limit down in morning trade, falling 29.9%, or 33.5 sen to 78.5 sen at 9.32 am.

Its short selling was suspended yesterday as well after its share price nosedived in morning trade.

Bursa Malaysia announced on its website that the intraday short selling (IDSS) of the company's shares will only be reactivated at 8.30 am on Oct 7.

Executive director Sabri Ab Rahman said Pertama Digital is unaware of the recent stock price dip but assures stakeholders the company remains strong and well-positioned for sustainable growth.

In a statement on Oct 3, Pertama Digital noted that in recent months, the company had successfully reversed its previous quarter’s negative results, with new product lines making a marked contribution to performance.

“We are proud to have moved into a positive trajectory, driven by our team’s hard work and the growing impact of our innovative digital offerings. We’ve also completed a strategic cost-cutting exercise and streamlined our operations to ensure healthy cash flow,” Sabri said.
