Fajarbaru to develop Medi-City project in Batu Kawan, covering 235.8 acres

KUALA LUMPUR: Fajarbaru Builder Group Bhd has accepted a letter of offer from Penang Development Corporation (PDC) for the proposed development of Medi-City in Batu Kawan, covering approximately 235.8 acres.

In a statement, the turnkey contractor and property developer said the development project will be divided into two parcels with Fajarbaru set to purchase Parcel 1, which spans 51.17 acres, in 2025.

Within the first parcel, 15.3 acres are designated for healthcare-related developments, including a 200-bed hospital and various medical facilities. The remaining 35.8 acres is planned for mixed-use development, featuring both residential and commercial components.

Fajarbaru said as part of the Medi-City master plan covering 235.8 acres, the group intends to create a complete ecosystem of healthcare and medical facilities by developing a medical hub.

It said the hub will offer a wide range of healthcare solutions, including preventive care, rehabilitation, diagnostics, treatment, and wellness services.

Additionally, Fajarbaru will develop a wellness village, a medical education hub, a hybrid health-tech park, a waterfront commercial centre, Fajarbaru Global Park, and seaview residences.

In line with the government’s agenda to promote sustainable development, Medi-City Bandar Cassia will include an integrated district cooling system, green buildings, renewable energy sources, and EV charging hubs.

Fajarbaru said the development aims to create a smart, environmentally conscious community that embodies the principles of ESG and sustainability.

Fajarbaru’s board of directors is pleased that the group has acquired the first parcel of the Medi-City development project.

“Given the immense growth in demand for healthcare and medical services catering not only to the local population but also to medical tourists, Fajarbaru believe there is potential for the country and state to benefit from Medi-City Bandar Cassia. This initiative will be instrumental in solidifying Penang’s position as a premier global healthcare destination, supporting the state government’s long-term vision for the region.

“As the group carry out its aspirations, Fajarbaru believes that this development aligns with its mission in delivering sustainable, forward-thinking projects that meet current and future needs,”it said.

“By integrating cutting-edge healthcare with thoughtfully crafted residential and commercial spaces, Medi-City sets a new benchmark for integrated developments and highlights its commitment in enriching lives and driving growth for the community.”
