StanChart, Citi make appointments

PETALING JAYA: Standard Chartered (StanChart) has appointed Harmander Mahal as head of wealth and retail banking (WRB) for Malaysia and Indonesia with effect from Oct 14, 2024. In his new role based in Malaysia, StanChart said he is responsible for driving the WRB strategy in both markets.

Harmander has been with the bank since 2015 when he joined as regional head of retail banking segments and analytics in Singapore.

Separately, Citi announced that it had appointed former JP Morgan Chase & Co executive director, Ng Hooi Wan, as its head of markets for Malaysia, effective December 2024.

Citi said Ng led local markets and private side sales in JP Morgan where she joined its Malaysian office at the end of 2011.

Citi added that Ng will be reporting to head of markets for the Asia South cluster Sue Lee and Citi Country Officer and Banking Head for Malaysia Vikram Singh in her new role.
