Critical Holdings’ order book poised to rise

PETALING JAYA: Critical Holdings Bhd’s order book is set to rise with the uptick in contract activity within the semiconductor sector and the anticipated surge in the data-centre mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) related works over the next few months.

Phillip Capital Research said the latest win for the mechanical and electrical contract worth RM63mil for a semiconductor project in Penang brings Critical Holdings’ total contract wins in October this year to RM145mil, increasing its order book to an estimated RM267mil, which is close to its historical record high.

“We are encouraged by this win, as the recent uptick in contract activity within the semiconductor sector points to a robust project pipeline,” the research house added.

“Apart from the semiconductor segment, we expect to see an increase in data-centre MEP related contract awards in the coming months, following the high amount of contracts awarded to main contractors.

“This is expected to further drive Critical Holdings’ order book.”

The company’s latest contract win involves a job worth RM62.5mil from IJM Corp Bhd to undertake the supply, delivery and installation, testing, commissioning and maintenance of mechanical and electrical services, for a new semiconductor plant at the Batu Kawan Bandar Cassia Technology Park, in Prai, Penang.

In a statement, Critical Holdings, a mechanical, electrical and process utilities design and engineering solutions provider, said the plant is owned by a renowned US-based multinational company.

The contract is expected to be completed by August 2025 and contribute positively to the earnings and net assets of the company for the tenure of the agreement.
