Varia wins RM571.8mil contract for Terengganu rehabilitation centre


KUALA LUMPUR: Varia Bhd’s wholly-owned subsidiary, Pembinaan Teguh Maju Sdn Bhd, has secured a RM571.8mil contract from Social Security Organisation (Socso) to build a rehabilitation centre at Setiu, Terengganu.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, Varia said the contract is for 30 months, starting from the site possession date on Oct 29, 2024, and ending with completion on April 28, 2027.

“This project provides Varia with an opportunity to replicate our past track record from building a rehabilitation centre in Perak to a new rehabilitation centre at Terengganu state now, making in-road into construction in the healthcare industry.

“We are extremely delighted to contribute our expertise to build a rehabilitation centre with comprehensive supporting medical facilities and related infrastructures,” managing director Datuk Lau Beng Sin said in a separate statement.

“This construction contract is expected to contribute positively to the future financial performance of Varia Group over the next 2 to 3 financial years with the construction period spanning from October 2024 until April 2027,” he added.

Lau said with the inclusion of this new project, Varia’s order book now stands at RM3.08bil.
