Anwar calls for top-level standards in logistics infrastructure and workforce

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim

SEPANG: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has urged all parties, including the Ministry of Transport (MOT), relevant agencies, and private companies in the logistics sector, to ensure that industry infrastructure and workforce skills meet the highest standards.

He said this focus aligns with the government's current priorities on industrialisation, digitisation, energy transition and semiconductors.

The Prime Minister noted that this year, major investors have expressed interest in Malaysia, with infrastructure at ports, transport, and logistics being among their main considerations.

"Among the issues raised is that when investors enter areas such as Selangor, Kulim (Kedah), Johor, Sabah and Sarawak, they examine the capabilities of the entire ecosystem.

"That’s why I urge the ministry and stakeholders to prioritise this sector, as the pace and scale of change are rapid. If, for example, our systems lag, we will be left behind," he said at the inauguration of the DHL Complex in the KLIA Free Trade Zone here today. - Bernama
