Texchem Resources reports cybersecurity incident

KUALA LUMPUR: Texchem Resources Bhd says it experienced a cybersecurity incident recently whereby some data in the servers were encrypted and access to the data was blocked.

Upon discovering the incident, Texchem said it took immediate and appropriate action to isolate the network and to restore the affected servers.

A proper recovery plan has been implemented to safeguard the servers.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, the group said it engaged an external consultant to investigate the incident, address any potential gap, strengthen its overall cybersecurity infrastructure and assist in the recovery of data.

“Texchem has immediately initiated a business recovery process to minimise any potential operational disruption to customers and would like to assure all stakeholders that it takes information security seriously and has placed a high priority in addressing the incident,” it said.

Texchem stated that, at present, there are no financial losses or disruptions to its operations and it is not aware of any external data leakage.

It will continue to closely monitor the situation and provide further updates if there are any significant developments related to the incident.
