Cypark's floating solar farm in Kelantan approved for operations

Cypark Resources Bhd executive chair Datuk Ami Moris.

KUALA LUMPUR: Cypark Resources Bhd, as the turnkey financier and engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning (EPCC) contractor, announced that Malaysia’s largest floating solar farm at Danau Tok Uban, Kelantan (DTU) has been approved for its initial operations date (IOD) as of Nov 16.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, the renewable energy firm said the DTU site, comprising two interconnected plants (DTU 1 and DTU 2) with a combined 98MWdc capacity, will now transition to full commercial operations.

“Cypark Resources is proud to have reached IOD for this innovative floating solar project. Having faced significant delays due to the Covid-19 pandemic and a major relocation from Negeri Sembilan to Kelantan, delivering this project is a new milestone for Cypark and the state of Kelantan,” executive chair Datuk Ami Moris said.

Meanwhile, executive director Muhammad Ashraf said: “We are immensely proud of our 100% Malaysian team for bringing this project to fruition. With the collaborative and expert support we received from Suruhanjaya Tenaga, Tenaga Nasional Bhd and single buyer, we are confident Malaysia is well poised to achieve its energy transition goals.”
