PETALING JAYA: Sam Engineering & Equipment (M) Bhd has reported a 23.7% year-on-year (y-o-y) drop in net profit for the second quarter of financial year 2025 (2Q25).
The quarter’s net profit fell to RM24.9mil, translating into an earnings per share of 3.68 sen, as revenue fell 13.6% y-o-y to RM370.2mil.
The weaker topline was due to the lower revenue from the equipment segment of RM79.1mil, following reduced demand from the semiconductor and data storage customers, as well as unfavourable foreign-exchange translation.
The aerospace segment, however, posted a higher revenue of RM20.7mil, thanks to contribution from the newly acquired subsidiary, Aviatron (M) Sdn Bhd. The group did not propose a dividend for 2Q25.
For the first six months ended Sept 30, 2024, SAM’s net profit fell 34.2% y-o-y to RM35mil, while revenue dropped 4.5% y-o-y to RM703.6mil.
