KUALA LUMPUR: Stocks to watch on Friday include CIMB Group Holdings Bhd, Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB), Genting Bhd, Genting Malaysia Bhd, Capital A Bhd, IHH Healthcare Bhd, Hong Leong Bank Bhd, Sime Darby Bhd and Alliance Bank Malaysia Bhd.
In the third quarter ended Sept 30, 2024 (3Q24), CIMB reported a net profit of RM2.03bil, up from RM1.85bil in the year-ago quarter. Its revenue rose to RM5.74bil from RM5.31bil in the comparative quarter.
TNB saw its net profit soar 85% year-on-year (YoY) to RM1.58bil in the third quarter ended Sept 30, 2024 (3Q24), as revenue also edged up 6.6% to RM14.4bil.
Genting Genting posted a net profit of RM223.8mil in 3Q24, which was a drop from RM520.52mil in the year-ago quarter. Revenue for thew quarter fell to RM6.54bil from RM7.37bil in the previous corresponding quarter.
Genting Malaysia’s net profit surged to RM569.16mil in 3Q24 from RM177.41mil in the year-ago quarter. Its revenue rose to RM2.75bil in 3Q24 from RM2.71bil previously.
Capital A posted a net profit of RM1.64bil in 3Q24, swinging into the black from a net loss of RM102.75mil in 3Q23.
The carrier also saw a 17% YoY increase in its revenue to RM4.9bil in 3Q24, mainly attributed to the recovery in demand from both domestic and international travel.
IHH Healthcare’s net profit came to RM534mil in 3Q24, slightly higher from RM532mil in the year-ago quarter. The group's revenue dipped to RM5.64bil from RM5.83bil in 3Q23 due to the effects of MFRS 129 reporting standards.
Hong Leong Bank recorded a net profit of RM1.09bil in the first quarter ended Sept 30, 2024, up from RM1.03bil in the year-ago quarter. It reported a revenue of RM1.6bil during the quarter under review as compared to RM1.39bil in the year-ago quarter
Sime Darby’s net profit rose to RM800mil in the first quarter ended Sept 30, 2024, up from RM589mil in the year-ago quarter. It reported revenue of RM18.26bil during the quarter under review, against RM13.98bil in the comparative quarter.
Alliance Bank’s net profit for the second quarter ended Sept 30, 2024 (2Q25) rose to RM189.91mil from RM185.33mil. The bank reported revenue of RM605.65mil, up from RM528.1mil in the comparative quarter.
