KUALA LUMPUR: George Kent (Malaysia) Bhd has bagged a RM26.7mil contract for the Sarawak water supply grid programme's Stressed Area project, which will enhance water supply infrastructure along Bakun Road from the Laban to Tubau areas in Bintulu Division.
The group said the project win, awarded by the Sarawak Rural Water Supply Department, represents its first in the state.
It will partner Techkem Utilities, which is the main sub-contractor for the project.
The scope of work for this project includes the supply, delivery, installation, testing, and commissioning of mechanical and electrical systems.
According to George Kent, the infrastructure project aims to provide reliable and sustainable access to clean water for communities in Sarawak’s stressed areas, supporting regional development and improving the quality of life for residents.
The project has commenced and is scheduled for completion on June 30, 2026.
"This project not only represents a significant business win but also signals our strategic intent to expand our presence across Malaysia," said George Kent executive chairman Tan Sri Tan Kay Hock in a statement.
