Teleport projects record RM1bil revenue in 2024, achieving 50% growth

KUALA LUMPUR: Integrated logistics provider Teleport anticipates closing this year with record revenue of about RM1 billion, marking a 50 per cent year-on-year (y-o-y) growth for 2024.

Chief executive officer Pete Chareonwongsak attributed the company’s success to the execution of four key strategies throughout 2024.

"These strategies include securing higher direct volumes from China's top five e-commerce marketplaces, expanding Teleport’s network to enhance capacity and reach, and maintaining a strong focus on cost optimisation," he said during a media briefing today.

Chareonwongsak also highlighted the importance of larger planes in supporting growth, emphasising how freighters complement AirAsia’s network.

"Our significant volume growth has been a driving factor. This reflects a slightly different business model that prioritises volume, enabling us to accomplish outcomes that others cannot,” he said.

Chareonwongsak noted that Teleport's air cargo operations have funded the development of its e-commerce delivery infrastructure, enabling the company to expand into the Southeast Asian cross-border e-commerce market by air- a key operational capability.

In the third quarter ended Sept 30, 2024, Teleport’s revenue surged 52 per cent y-o-y to RM286.7 million, driven by a 31 per cent increase in tonnage and a 113 per cent rise in delivery parcel volumes. Over 15.7 million parcels were delivered during the quarter, bringing the total for the year to more than 47 million.

The company also recorded positive earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortisation (EBITDA) of RM21.9 million in the quarter.

"Our upward EBITDA trend is supported by optimised cost management and the stabilisation of freighter operations,” he shared.

Currently, Teleport operates three narrow-body Airbus A321 freighters to meet its growing logistics demands, complemented by the expanding belly capacity of AirAsia's passenger aircraft and partnerships with over 40 other airlines.

"We also have 10 more airline partners in the pipeline, expected by the fourth quarter," he added.

Moving forward, he said Teleport aims to handle two million parcels daily across all business segments by the end of 2025, supported by the 10 freighters, AirAsia's network, and additional airline partners.

"Currently, our daily parcel volume exceeds 200,000, and we anticipate it reaching approximately 350,000 parcels by year-end," he said. - Bernama
