MyNews expects sales growth with the expansion of its store network.


KUALA LUMPUR: MyNews Holdings Bhd expects sales revenue to maintain its upward trajectory, driven by ongoing efforts to expand its businesses and a strong commitment to operational improvement.

The retail and convenience stores operator said the current store count stands at 644, comprising 482 myNEWS (including 34 SUPERVALUE), 141 CU, 20 WHSmith, and 1 Maru Coffee.

“The expansion of new stores across the country is ongoing, while existing stores are continuously improved and revamped as necessary,” it said, adding that it opened its first standalone Maru Coffee store at InterContinental Hotel KL.

“Utilising the group’s existing capabilities and infrastructures, more Maru Coffee stores will be opened and this signifies the group’s penetration into the coffeehouse business segment to capture the growing coffee market.

“The Japanese food hub production volume will continue to increase in tandem with the sales growth at the retail front and the non-stop innovation in fresh food products,” MyNews said.

In the fourth quarter ended October 31, MyNews’ net profit surged to RM3.76mil, or earnings per share of 0.50 sen, resulting in a full-year net profit of RM9.4mil, or 1.25 sen.

Revenue for the quarter reached RM208.4mil, contributing to a total annual revenue of RM804.2mil.
