KUALA LUMPUR: Shares of YTL Corp Bhd and YTL Power International Bhd jumped in early trading on Thursday after YTL Power announced that the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) had cleared the group of any involvement in wrongdoing related to the 1BestariNet project.
In a filing with Bursa Malaysia on Wednesday, YTL Power said its 60%-owned subsidiary, YTL Communications Sdn Bhd (YTL Comms), had been cleared of any wrongdoing by the MACC in connection with the RM4.07bil 1BestariNet project.
YTL Power, the top gainer on Bursa Malaysia, rose 7.65%, or 28 sen, to RM3.94 with 21.9 million shares traded at 9.51 am. Year-to-date, the counter has risen over 52%.
YTL Corp advanced 7.48%, or 16 sen, to RM2.30 with 22.76 million shares changing hands. So far this year, the stock has appreciated by around 20%.
