Southern Cable wins RM173mil supply contract

PETALING JAYA: Southern Cable Group Bhd’s wholly-owned subsidiary, Southern Cable Sdn Bhd, has secured a RM172.57mil contract for the supply and delivery of cables and conductors in Sabah and Sarawak.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, Southern Cable announced that the contract will be for a period of 24 months, starting from Dec 20, 2024 to Dec 19, 2026. “The contract is expected to contribute positively to the earnings of the group over the duration of the contract,” it said.

For the third quarter ended Sept 30, 2024, Southern Cable’s net profit rose to RM18.57mil from RM6.53mil in the previous corresponding period, while revenue grew to RM383.60mil from RM273.75mil a year earlier.

In a filing on its latest financial results, the firm said its prospects are bolstered by the rising demand for cables and wires in the country.
