BAuto profit falls due to influx of Chinese cars


The company's revenue declined by 32.8% to RM602.08mil.

PETALING JAYA: Bermaz Auto Bhd (BAuto) sold fewer Mazda and Kia cars amid the influx of Chinese-made brands, causing its net profit to tumble by more than 65% year-on-year (y-o-y) in the third quarter ended Jan 31, 2025 (3Q25).

In a bourse filing, BAuto said its 3Q25 net profit fell to RM24.14 million, translating to an earnings per share of 2.07 sen.

Meanwhile, its revenue declined by 32.8% to RM602.08mil.

A dividend of 1.75 sen was declared.

For the nine-month period, BAuto’s net profit fell by 61% y-o-y to RM134.71mil and revenue declined by 30% to RM2.09bil.

Going forward, the company expects a challenging environment with inflationary pressures, ongoing uncertainties in geopolitical conflicts and weaker global growth having an adverse impact on the overall Malaysian economy and the automotive industry.
