KUALA LUMPUR: Ekuiti Nasional Bhd (Ekuinas) has invested in cybersecurity firm Bluesify Solutions Sdn Bhd (Bluesify) to enhance Malaysia’s cybersecurity landscape and support the company’s expansion.

Ekuinas said the investment, made through its Dana Asas I fund, is aimed at expanding Bumiputera participation in key industries.

In a statement today, Ekuinas chief executive officer Datuk Syed Yasir Arafat Syed Abd Kadir said the investment in Bluesify is aimed at strengthening Malaysia’s cybersecurity landscape and helping businesses defend against growing digital threats.

"With our growth capital, Bluesify is set to support the nation’s cybersecurity needs by expanding service offerings across the entire cybersecurity lifecycle and scaling up its managed detection and response (MDR) centre.

”At the same time, the company aims to expand its footprint in regional markets, catering to the rising demand for advanced security solutions across Southeast Asia,” he said.

Syed Yasir added that Bluesify’s expansion would allow Ekuinas to tap into Southeast Asia’s growing cybersecurity market, which is projected to expand at a compound annual growth rate of 9.5 per cent, from US$4.9 billion (RM21.8 billion) in 2025 to US$7.1 billion (RM31.3 billion) in 2029.

Meanwhile, Bluesify managing director Izman Ibrahim said the company is looking forward to working with Ekuinas to expand its growth while remaining committed to delivering expert-driven, artificial intelligence (AI)-based cybersecurity services that offer clients the highest level of protection in an evolving digital landscape.

Ekuinas also said the investment comes at a crucial time following the enactment of Malaysia’s Cyber Security Act 2024, which requires cybersecurity service providers to be licensed and imposes stricter compliance regulations on businesses that own or operate National Critical Information Infrastructure (NCII).

"Bluesify is well-positioned to assist businesses in navigating these new requirements, safeguarding critical systems while ensuring compliance,” it said.

Established in 2012 by Izman Ibrahim and Faroze Mohd Salleh, Bluesify provides services such as a 24/7 managed cyber detection and response centre, managed threat intelligence, threat hunting, and cyber incident response services, catering to clients across financial services, energy, healthcare, government agencies, and statutory bodies.
