Lim family, EPF near Yinson bid for RM6.86bil


The group is preparing to submit an indicative offer of around RM2.35 per share for Yinson.

KUALA LUMPUR: Yinson Holdings Bhd’s founding Lim family, the Employees Provident Fund (EPF) and MISC Bhd are teaming up for a potential US$1.7bil (RM6.86bil) buyout of the company, according to people familiar with the matter.

The group is preparing to submit an indicative offer of around RM2.35 per share for Yinson, which could come as soon as this week, the people said, asking to not be identified because the information is private.

Yinson’s shares have climbed almost 12% in Kuala Lumpur this week, reaching a four-month high of RM2.22.

That’s given the energy infrastructure company a market value of RM6.5bil.

Representatives for the Lim family and Yinson declined to comment. EPF and MISC didn’t immediately respond to requests for comment.

The Lim family owns about 27.7% of Yinson, while EPF holds 17.1%. MISC is an international maritime company and part of the Petroliam Nasional Bhd group. — Bloomberg
