Christmas around the corner, and the infectious sounds of Boney M’s Feliz Navidad is playing from a tiny transistor radio and the aroma of freshly baked sugee cake lingers in retiree Mally Antonia Arokiasamy’s kitchen.

Her beautiful home has been decorated with festive paraphernalia and an array of biscuits are neatly stacked in Christmas-themed jars.
