Ordering in: Authentic Thai meals from celebrated chef Darren Chin's Thai in-laws

After realising his mother-in-law Nuanta’s (second from left) talent for cooking northern Thai food, Chin (right) decided to set up Gai for her. Also in the picture are Nana (left) and Suwit. — Photos: DARREN CHIN

The culinary roots of Mama Nuanta and Papa Suwit can be traced back to the days when the Thai couple had a little food stall in Chiang Mai, Thailand, selling som tum and grilled chicken.

Those unassuming beginnings and Nuanta’s skill at churning out northern Thai dishes, have spurred the inception of Gai, a home business in the Klang Valley that Nuanta and Suwit run with the help of their son-in-law, famed local chef Darren Chin.
