New eatery Halley opened in Republik in Bukit Damansara, Kuala Lumpur in February this year and immediately faced a host of challenges when a national lockdown came into motion.

“It was a struggle to have a new restaurant up and running smoothly with dine-in restrictions and movement control order rules, as it meant we had fewer people coming by to get to know the brand, and this made it tough for us to penetrate the market and educate customers on our dishes,” says Lai Chee Hoe, the creator of the eatery.
