Mummy’s food hunt

Our mothers are often the ones taking care of the meals for the whole family and most of the time, cooking their children’s favourite foods. But do you ever stop to think, what does your mum like to eat?

My mother used to love yau char kwai (fried dough fritters, also called youtiao) and whenever she bought breakfast for us from the market, she would buy two pieces, even though she would be the only one eating it. I asked her why and she said she felt bad getting only one piece, and it looked better getting a pair. It was only 5sen each then, so she felt she did a good deed by spending 10sen and adding to the seller’s revenue for the day!
