THE Ritz-Carlton, Langkawi, is offering guests the chance of a lifetime as Reynold Poernomo will host an intimate dessert masterclass and meet-and-greet on June 23.
Poernomo is dubbed Australia’s “Dessert King” thanks to his breathtaking and artistic desserts, such as The Golden Snitch, Down the Rabbit Hole and White Noise, which he showcased on Dessert Masters and other culinary shows.
He is now the co-founder and creative director of Australia’s Koi Dessert Bar and Koi Experiential.
Poernomo will be bringing his culinary flair to Langkawi for his first ever collaboration in Malaysia, with the resort and Marriott Bonvoy Moments.
Pastry aficionados will learn how to make and take home Poernomo’s latest creation, “Legenda”, created exclusively for the event.
Poernomo said he was excited to have the chance to collaborate in Malaysia for the first time.
With his family having roots in Indonesia, the tropical fruits and flavours of South-East Asia and Malaysia are no stranger to Poernomo, who will incorporate coconut, roselle, mango, lime, lychee and gula melaka into Legenda.
The dessert incorporates gula melaka sponge, coconut water jelly, coconut vanilla mousse, mango gel, lychee coconut sorbet, roselle and berry compote encased in white chocolate.
“What I love about Malaysia is that it’s quite similar in an abundance of exotic and tropical fruits,” he said.
“So I thought I’d showcase my concept of food, flair and techniques that I’ve picked up over the years and put them to use with Langkawi’s local produce.”
Guests who successfully bid for one of the 10 available packages on the official Marriott Bonvoy Moment event page will experience the masterclass at the resort’s Hai Yan restaurant, followed by a meet-and-greet session.
Those who are unable to take part can try a more intricate version of Legenda as it will be available until September at the hotel.
The bidding period ends on June 12.
