Old meets new at KL wine lounge

The Drawing Room boasts a cosy setting for wine connoisseurs.

St Regis Kuala Lumpur has teamed up with Park90 Kuala Lumpur to elevate the wine scene and reintroduce the allure of old-world wines to connoisseurs.

The Drawing Room, where St Regis’ signature afternoon tea takes place, transforms at night into a wine lounge run by Park90 that offers the finest labels.

Renowned for their accolades and top sommeliers, Park90 offers premier wines sourced from around the world.

Their collection spans a diverse range of vintages from old to new world, showcasing both traditional and innovative winemaking styles.

A variety of grapes are also reflected in the offerings, thus embodying the diversity of wine production.

Park90 currently offers over 530 labels from its menu, which is slated for expansion with reputable and rare vintages of the CMY Collection.

A menu crafted by the hotel was presented with a pairing menu designed by Park90 head sommelier Justin Ho Li Vern for an indulgent experience.

“While many restaurants and bars in town offer wine pairing experiences, we believe that the true art of enjoying wine – its aroma, colour and flavour – is often overlooked,” said hotel general manager Philipp Haupenthal.

“In working with Park90, we are reintroducing the traditional pleasures of wine tasting as well as innovating ways to appreciate this timeless beverage.”

Guests at the launch of Park90’s wine lounge at St Regis were treated to wines such as the 2020 Domaine du Bouchot Pouilly-Fume Terres Blanches as well as the 2021 Tenuta San Guido Guidalberto.

The former, a white wine, has citrusy notes with delicate and elegant pear aromas, which paired well with seafood and shellfish.

The latter, which is a Bordeaux-blend red wine, has a full-bodied fruitiness supported by ripe tannins while the Merlot in the blend has a concentrated berries offset and spicy oak notes.

To mark the launch, a bespoke storage area was created for wines imported from distant continents.

A dedicated sommelier guided guests through a wine tasting journey.

Hotel guests can also join Park90 members in receiving some of the perks, which include special pricing and access to a members-only wine list.

Park90 plans to introduce a Coravin wine selection in the coming months, for guests to enjoy rare wines by the glass.

Exclusive wines such as those by Petrus, Sassicaia and Screaming Eagle will be served.

Park90 Kuala Lumpur is open from 6pm to midnight, with last orders taken at 11pm.
