Customers can enjoy personalised brew while indulging in fusion-type dishes

FINDING a coffee place that truly stands out can be challenging with the number of options around.

There is, however, one place that comes to mind where coffee is more than a beverage and where every cup is a delightful masterpiece.

Welcome to Bookmark Coffee in Petaling Jaya – a cozy haven brimming with talented baristas.

Here, they take the art of coffee to the next level, transforming each brew into a stunning visual delight that is almost too beautiful to drink.

While it may take around 20 minutes for your drink to arrive, the wait is well worth it.

What makes it even more special is that customers can request for their desired image for the barista to recreate, giving each cup a personal edge.

The sheer delight of seeing one’s favourite childhood cartoon, comic book or anime characters such as Snoopy from Peanuts, Marvel’s Ironman or even the animated character from My Neighbor Totoro artistically drawn out on coffee foam does bring out the child in you.

Needless to say, this is just the place for young ones to have a fabulous time even if coffee may not be their thing.

The baristas can draw just about any image, even people’s faces, using food colouring and chocolate.

On coffee selection, Bookmark Coffee business partner Vindy Siew said the cafe offered two varieties.

“One is a blend of coffee beans that delivers a nutty flavour with hints of popcorn and walnuts.

“The other is Ethiopia Single Origin coffee beans, which has a fruity profile featuring notes of jasmine, blueberries and sugar cane,” she said.

Although known for its coffee art, the cafe also serves a variety of cold drinks and food to ensure each customer has something they like.

The fusion menu offering a combination of Asian and Western meals is simple but satisfying.

Fresh herbs and a sunny-side-up egg complete the dish.

In conjunction with the cafe’s 10th anniversary, the dish is now at a discounted price of RM15 instead of RM22.

Another warm and comforting dish is the Mushroom and Egg Don featuring fluffy rice topped with a variety of fried mushrooms as well as a beautiful sunny-side-up egg.

This hearty dish comes with a choice of fried chicken, pork or salmon.

For something creamy and rich, Bacon Carbonara with Roasted Piggy is an Italian inspired dish loaded with pork.

Here, spaghetti is coated in delightful carbonara sauce and dotted with crispy bacon bits and tender roasted pork.

The all-time local favourite of nasi lemak gets an Italian twist on the menu.

The Nasi Lemak Pasta with Salmon is an innovative dish featuring pasta tossed in sambal, complemented by tender, pan-seared salmon.

One might argue that the rice element is missing here, but the dish’s name is suggestive that pasta is to be expected.

This bestseller comes complete with classic accompaniments of sambal, peanuts and cucumber.

Those wanting something light yet satisfyingly good can turn to the Healthy Shahsuka Tomato Egg with Sourdough.

Taking into account that Christmas is a month away, the cafe has unveiled its Curry Don with X’mas Roast Drumstick.
