GRAND Hyatt Kuala Lumpur is showcasing JP Peranakan Palate Week, a week-long celebration of authentic Peranakan flavours in collaboration with celebrity chef Florence Tan.

It is available from Dec 6 to 14 at JPteres, the hotel’s all-day dining restaurant.

This collaboration between JPteres and Tan, who hails from Melaka, celebrates the tradition and rich culinary heritage of Nyonya cuisine.

Tan has long been a champion of the Peranakan culinary arts, showcasing her expertise both in Malaysia and internationally.

As the host of TV3’s Dapur Nyonya, Tan has introduced countless viewers to the time-honoured techniques and rich history behind Nyonya cooking.

During JP Peranakan Palate Week, Tan will present a carefully curated menu featuring her signature dishes.

It includes Chicken Sek, a traditional dish rich in flavour, Fried Nyonya Noodles with Rojak offering a perfect balance of sweet, sour and savoury, Ikan Gerang Assam, a tangy, spicy fish stew and Sup Itik Tim, a comforting duck soup reflecting the Peranakan’s fondness for duck.

Tan herself will be taking centre stage on Dec 6 and 7, preparing these exceptional dishes alongside the restaurant’s culinary team.

The Peranakan dishes will be served as part of the JP Weekday Lunch Buffet on weekdays and Gerai@JP Dinner Buffet on Saturdays.

JP Peranakan Palate Week serves as a preview of what’s to come in the hotel’s “Dine With Chef” series, which will return in May 2025.

It also aligns with the restaurant’s commitment to authentic Malaysian cuisine and dedication to serving the best of local flavours.

“This collaboration underscores our commitment to delivering iconic experiences that honour cultural heritage and elevate the dining experience for our guests,” said the hotel’s executive chef Grzegorz Odolak.

The JP Weekday Lunch Buffet is priced at RM128nett per adult and RM64nett per child, while the Gerai@JP Dinner Buffet is priced at RM158nett per adult, with complimentary dining for children aged 12 and below.
