In Memory Of Yao Lee: Her Songs, Her Life

Where: DPAC, Petaling Jaya

When: Feb 12-16

You must have heard Shanghai music legend Yao Lee's cha cha song Ren Sheng Jiu Shi Xi (Life Is Just A Play) in the movie Crazy Rich Asians! This new musical is an adaptation of Malaysian producer Yang Wei Han's show Yao Lee, The Legendary Rose Musical, which was staged in KL in 2012. This upcoming tribute, put together by Han Production, revisits the story of Yao Lee’s life, taking in her Shanghai golden years right to the Hong Kong-era of hits. The jazz-inspired show is told through 28 songs, performed live by WVC Malaysian Jazz Ensemble. Take a trip down memory lane with Yao Lee’s hits such as Rose, Rose I Love You, Chun Feng Wen Shang Wo De Lian (Spring Breeze Kisses My Face), Mai Xiang Xi (Yearning For Sale), and Ai Qing De Mo Li (That’s Amore).
