Popularity of her 'Bridgerton' books is just 'bonkers' says author Julia Quinn

Part of the success of the adaptation of Quinn's book for TV has been attributed to break out star Regé-Jean Page as protagonist Simon Basset. Phoebe Dynevor plays eldest Bridgerton daughter Daphne, who is in search of a suitor and falls for the unsuitable and reluctant to marry Simon. — Netflix

Shonda Rhimes was on holiday when she stumbled upon the first book in the British Regency-era Bridgerton book series, The Duke & I, by American author Julia Quinn and quickly was all in.

“I immediately went out and bought all the rest of her books,” says Rhimes in a recent interview. “Her way with words is delightful. I thought, ‘These are characters I’d want to know’. They had a universal feeling to them and I thought they’d make amazing television.”
