The entrance fee for Rumah Lat where cartoonist Datuk Mohd Nor Khalid's (better known as Lat) archives and works are being displayed, will be announced soon by the board of directors of the Perak State Museum Board, said Perak State Museum Board director Mohamad Amir Mohd Dahalan.

He added the gallery in Perak - dedicated to Lat - is still offering free admission until the entrance fee is determined later this month.

"We have already proposed the entrance fee, but it will only be decided by the board of directors of the Perak State Museum Board in a meeting this month. We assure you that the fee will be affordable,” he said.

According to Mohamad Amir, Rumah Lat which was officially opened on July 8 by the Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Shah and Raja Permaisuri of Perak, Tuanku Zara Salim, has so far attracted more than 30,000 visitors.

"We have had visitors from Singapore and Japan who wanted to experience the ‘Rumah Bumbung Lima’ or ‘Rumah Limas’ and view the exhibits showcasing the life and career of Lat," he said.

Previously, Lat, who is a Royal Artist, had expressed his hope that the gallery entrance fee would be reasonable and affordable for everyone.

The gallery on Jalan Bemban near Batu Gajah, built on a 0.0412-ha plot, showcases Lat's artworks from his career as a cartoonist since 1962.

The gallery is open from Tuesday to Sunday, 10am to 4pm, and closed on Mondays. – Bernama
